Fatal Collision between Dump Truck and Passenger Vehicle in West Virginia

Personal Injury

When a large commercial truck collides with a smaller passenger vehicle, the damage can be quite severe for the occupants of the smaller vehicle. For example, a tragic accident occurred in Jefferson County between a dump truck and a Chevy Cruze.

The dump truck was reportedly traveling west on Middleway Pike when the front driver side tire suddenly exploded causing the truck driver to lose control. The dump truck wound up rolling on top of the Chevy Cruze. The driver of the Cruze died and a passenger had to be airlifted to Innova Fairfax Hospital for medical treatment, according to MetroNews.

Police investigating the collision said they’ll be looking into the tread that was on the tires of the dump truck.

Deepest sympathies go out to the friends and family of the victim who lost his life.

In 2014, approximately 348 deadly accidents involved a large commercial truck in West Virginia, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Nationally, close to 4,000 people died in collisions with commercial trucks while an estimated 111,000 people suffered a serious injury in a crash with a large truck in 2014.

Obtain Financial Restitution Through a Personal Injury Claim

If you were injured in an accident with a commercial truck, or you lost a loved one in this type of accident, you can pursue financial restitution for the harms and losses associated with the wreck. This includes reimbursement for your medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

When a commercial truck is involved in an accident, including a dump truck, there may be multiple insurance policies that cover the driver and the vehicle. It is important to have a thorough investigation conducted of all applicable insurance policies since that will help maximize your financial recovery.
